Whay does excel say in the bottom status bar "calculating"... for quite some time, just when I insert a blank row, on a new blank sheet?

Other sheets I can understand, but not this one, every time.

Easy bullets in Excel
If you have a numeric keypad, press Alt+7 on numeric keypad to type a bullet in Excel.
It sounds like you have a macro assigned to that sheet.
Press ALT + F11 and click on the sheet in question in the explorer and see if there is code in the RH window

There's no code in that sheet. I even made a new sheet and it does the same thing.

There's code in other sheets that does detect manual editing through keyboard typing. But not in that sheet.

In fact, I turned calculation off, and it takes the same amount of time to just insert a row as when it was turned on. About 3 seconds.

Perhaps something else is going on. Or, that's the normal time and I'm just noticing now?

No...inserting a row should be fairly quick....but it definitely sounds like something id triggereing a recalc....can you upload to dropbox and post the link back here ???

Sorry, no.

I thought maybe it was the Office update that was waiting to install.... so i let that all happen, brought the excel back open, and it still is slow.
A new book however, is fast as it should be.

Oh, sorry....you said

I assumed you put your data into a new book, which sounds like the way to go !!!

I don't know about putting over 60 sheets, copied, into a new book. I'd have to do 1 at a time to see which is the offender.
