I am trying to find % contribution. I know the answer to %18.29/$43.36 should equal 0.42181 which would be 42.18% but excel is giving me the answer 42.1877 rounding it to 42.19%. My answer needs to be 42.18%. How do I fix this?

Hi,

Format cell, Percentage, change decimal places to what you want.

Excel is giving me the wrong answer though, making the percentage round to a different number than 42.18%

Also, I meant excel is giving me the answer .421877 rounding it to 42.18% when I need it to be 42.18%

Where are these numbers (18.29, and 43.36) coming from? Another Formula?

I am trying to divide $18.29/$43.36. The correct answer is 0.421817 which is 42.18%. But when I type the formula into excel (B70/B61) it is giving me 0.421877 which is making the percentage be 42.19%. Sorry if I explained it poorly.

yes, from another formula.

Then you're actually getting the correct answer, because B70 is not 18.29, and B61 is not 43.36, you're only seeing 2 decimal places of B70 and B61.

It sounds like a rounding error in B70 and/or B61. For instance, if B70 is 18.291 and B61 is 43.356, they will display as $18.29 and $43.36, yet when divided will give 0.421879
