I have a problem with viewing Excel workbooks in IE6 which is the default for our company intranet.
The configuration of IE6, as it is deployed here cannot be changed, but it does not allow Excel workbooks to open in Excel but uses the IE6 viewer version of Excel. This immediately reduces the options open to me to control navigation in the workbook by disabling the macro functionality of Excel. I can manage most of my requirements using formulae and functions but I would still like to control the navigation for the users of the workbook. Accordingly I have resorted to hyperlinks to move from worksheet to worksheet. This works perfectly when the workbook is open in Excel.
However, when the same workbook opens, as a URL address from a button, in the IE6 viewer window any use of the apparently successful hyperlinks results in a "save" dialog box being displayed. The viewer assumes that the document has been modified and asks whether to save the changes and gives Yes, No and Cancel options. Not a bad idea in itself perhaps but when it happens at every use of any hyperlink controlling movement between worksheets it becomes a tiresome interuption very quickly.
Has anyone any ideas why this should be or, better still, if I can stop it happening?
