I am using Excel 2010 and it has an autosave option if you forget to save changes when you close your workbook. I have looked for it in its default location and when I attempt to open it all there is is a grey screen with all my normal excel taskbar options. Why is this please? Thanks.
 
Ok, thanks. I have done as you said but there is only a file from 2 days ago and not the 'practice' file I have been using this morning.

Using Function Arguments with nested formulas
If writing INDEX in Func. Arguments, type MATCH(. Use the mouse to click inside MATCH in the formula bar. Dialog switches to MATCH.
If the file was not open long enough for Autorecover to run (default is every 10 minutes I think), then you won't have a copy.

I don't know then. Did you see the autorecover kick in at any point? Is the option set to retain files closed without saving?
