Hi

We are having a rather bad experience with our Excel 2007 spreadsheets. It seems that when saved out as 2003, all the formatting is removed from the document. No more borders, background colors, text colors, nothing but text.

I've been trying to figure out why and can't come to any logical conclusion.

I am able to create Excel 2003 versions by using Excel 2008 (Mac). That doesn't have an issue saving them out.

However, a grid that works perfectly fine in Excel 2003 (Win) is opened by Excel 2007 (Win), saved with a new name as a 2003 document, looses all formatting.

I've run the compatibility checker with no errors shown. I've cleaned up the formatting with no luck. I'm really looking for some new ideas.

Any help is much appreciated.

Excel Facts

Did you know Excel offers Filter by Selection?
Add the AutoFilter icon to the Quick Access Toolbar. Select a cell containing Apple, click AutoFilter, and you will get all rows with Apple
None standard colours/ conditional formatting often throw up curve balls between the 2 versions. I have just been through a nightmare with similar issues, not losing formatting etc but discarding pivot tables!

Turns out it was to do with conditional formatting which compat' checker never picked up...

Have you DL any of the security upgrades for 07? Apparently they cause compatibilty issues too.... Have a look on the tech threads for the 2 I started, someone listed the 2 most known problems causing downloads, may be remove them and see if it improves?

Good luck!
