Hi guys,

I've searched long enough on getting around my issue, hoping someone can provide help me get this matter resolved. I have this password protected Excel template (v.2002), it includes one particular drop-down box, which is not a data validation choice selection, but a 'object' drop-down box which offers choices linked to a hidden value, via the INDEX function. The issue arises when I password protect the template and attempt to select from the available choices, I get a dialog box telling me the "the cell or chart...is password protected and...read-only"..."To modify...remove protection". I imagined checking the "Edit Objects" selection, upon protecting the worksheet would have avoided any problems, but that doesn't do the job.

Can someone please help me get this solved? Thanks in advance.

Dave

Geeesh,
That one cell was probably the only one I did not unlocked, while performing the testing I mentioned earlier.
Honestly, it's been weeks since I set up that feature, so you threw me off, when you posed the question; I'm a novice, so I really wasn't clear, how the combobox changed anything...looking it over, I see it now.
Unfortunately, now unlocking that cell, ruins the flow of my tab key.
But I guess I'll have to live with that, unless....well, there's something I haven't discovered.
John, you've made my week. Thanks again.

How to calculate loan payments in Excel?
Use the PMT function: =PMT(5%/12,60,-25000) is for a $25,000 loan, 5% annual interest, 60 month loan.
I tested moving the A8 cell to another sheet and it worked. You can even hide the other sheet if you want

Select cell A8
Cut it, (Ctrl-X)
Select a cell on any other page and paste it there. (Ctrl-V)
Doing this will automatically change any formula to now reference the cell on the other page.

Now back on your ComboBox page.
Right click your ComboBox and set the linked cell reference to the new location. Just click the small red-arrow grid on the Cell Link field and then click the other page tab, then the new cell.

Protect your sheet again and you are set. Your Tab order will not include A8 anymore. Moving it even takes the un-locked condition away.
