Hi,

I really hope someone can help me make this drop down list.

I have a cell that a user will type in a acronym. Cell B1

I have a range of acronyms in a separate tab (about 700 of them).

I would like the user to presented with a drop down list of cells within the range that contain those three characters and any other cells that has any other characters after what they have typed. Like a wild card.

Is this possible?

Please please please help.

Thank you

Excel Facts

Bring active cell back into view
Start at A1 and select to A9999 while writing a formula, you can't see A1 anymore. Press Ctrl+Backspace to bring active cell into view.
If you're able to join the "Office Insider" beta program, that version of Excel natively has the typeahead functionality, so you can have a normal data validation field and as you type, it will filter the list accordingly.

your range will go in the ListFillRange field.

One thing important to note, is to use the ActiveX combobox rather than the form control combobox. this way you'll see these additional items in the properties window.

Thank you. I can give that a go, but reading that it is a bit confusing.

Is it not possible to be formular driven?

You will need VBA to achieve the typeahead feature. I don't mind giving you a hand if you share a copy of your worksheet via onedrive or dropbox.
