Hi,
This morning i came to use the drop down list but nothing happened.

If i select the cell then data validation i see the following,
SETTINGS
Allow LIST which is correct
Source =HONDANUMBERS which is correct

I click on OK but see an error message The source currently evaluates to an error

Any advice on how to track this down.
Thanks

The name is the same but the worksheet it is for are different.
Looking at the name manager this happens quite a lot.

So to clean it up should i use the named range BUT select workbook then each worksheet can use it.
Is that how it should be done ?
You have me thoroughly confused.
Are you saying that you have the same name used on different worksheets within a single workbook?
Or multiple workbooks using the same name?

Excel Facts

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
Work book called DR
Then worksheets named LOCKSMITH INV2 HONDA SHEET + say 5 more.

On each sheet i have a drop down where it basically comes from the same place HONDANUMBERS

What i see in the name manager is
HONDANUMBERS Scope LOCKSMITH
HONDANUMBERS Scope INV2
HONDANUMBERS Scope HONDA SHEET

Should the above just be 1 like
HONDANUMBERS Scope WORKBOOK

If so my list of named ranges that are currently say 70 could easily be 10

I recommend having each named range have its own UNIQUE name.
That is all I can really say about it.

I need to wright this more basic for my purpose as now confused.

One workbook.
Once opened then several worksheets.
Now on certain worksheets the same drop down list is used.
This drop down list is a table from worksheet called INFO.

So what I said was shall I delete all the named ranges that the scope is all different and just have the one named range but the scope should be workbook.

Where I got confused was when you said all unique names. But I read that as on the INFO worksheet I would then have say 5 tables the same but in the name manager they would all be called something different even though the content is the same.

So basically one table can be on many worksheets via a drop down box but in the name manager have the scope as workbook.
