Trying to get cell C20 to display the word "Need" if number in cell D20 is a negative number. If cell D20 is a positive number I would like cell C20 to say the word "Over".

Example:
C20.....D20
Need -15,567

C20.....D20
Over 16,567

if the number is negative dispaly the word Need
if the number is postive display the word Need

any help on this would be great thanks.

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
You did not say what to do if D20 equaled 0 so I assumed nothing should be displayed for that value. With that said, give this formula a try...

=IF(D20<0,"Need",IF(D20>0,"Over",""))
