Disable Automatic Calculations for specific cells/tables

I have a computationally expensive cell formula that queries an online database.

I'd like to have calculations set to automatic, except for the cells with my expensive formula, and write a macro that switches calculations on for those specific cells then switches them back off.

I haven't been able to find away to set specific cells to manual. Any ideas?

Excel Facts

Quick Sum
Select a range of cells. The total appears in bottom right of Excel screen. Right-click total to add Max, Min, Count, Average.
