Different Paste Options when Copying Data

My hard drive crashed in work laptop crashed la week, so IT had to replace it and re-configure/re-download everything on my laptop.

The one thing that is still driving me bonkers is when I copy from one workbook to another, I randomly get 2 different paste options (boxes below). I didn't get this in the past, so I have to assume it's a specific setting I'm not aware of.

Can anyone help?

This first box is what I am accustomed to in the past and prefer to seeing all the time....I use tons of key-stroke shortcuts, and this is what I am used to and is faster for me.

This box below is what I now get about 50% of the time...don't like it all. I've tried determining what specific occasions this option shows up, but I don't see any patterns.

Spell Check in Excel
Press F7 to start spell check in Excel. Be careful, by default, Excel does not check Capitalized Werds (whoops)
I assume you attempted to post some images -- not successful. Cannot tell what you are seeing and what you hoped to see. Try posting screen shots

OK, so my first attempt at providing images didn't work....

Here's the 1st option I explained above...preferred option and what I am used to seeing 99% of the time before my hard drive crashed

And here's the 2nd option that I get now about 50% of the time.

And I do have my settings in Excel as shown here (ignore the blue arrows)

For your Paste-Special, what key strokes are you using. I can't seem to replicate your issue.

I use Alt+E+S to open the Paste Special dialog.

You can see the same set of paste special options by right-clicking on the cell you want to paste in, and selecting "Paste Special", so it doesn't really have to do with the keystrokes....my bad.

And this issue is in Excel 2016, same before and after my laptop reconfiguration.

That doesn't work as that shortcut only pastes as values, so when I use it I get the "2nd option" box above.

I'm confused by your response. When I copy something and then use the shortcut Ctl + Alt +V then I get the dialog box that you say you are looking to have appear. It offers several options to paste your data. When I try to paste as formula, it does so.

Again, I cannot replicate your issue. Is it possible that you have a corrupt version installed and really need to have another re-install to fix your issue.

EDIT: I did check my set up in Options and the first check box is unchecked on my version of Excel 2016. Try this.

Are both workbooks open in the same instance of excel?

What I was referring to is regardless if do Ctl+Alt+V or Alt+E+S, or any other possible keystroke, I get the 2nd option dialog box.

I think I've narrowed it down to be an issue that Excel files that I open email attachments are opening in a separate instance of Excel, therefore causing this issue. There are some setting that work for some people, but there are ton that there's an overriding issue.

Just weird that I did not have this problem before IT reconfigured my laptop, and now I do....arrgh!
