In most cases I can work my way around formula (VBA I have to ask) but I have a requirement that is causing me a problem.

If a user selects "Individual CPC – Please complete on Summary" from cell D46 of sheet 1, then cell T31 of sheet 2 should accept a number only however if D46 on sheet one does not equal "Individual CPC – Please complete on Summary" than cell C55 of sheet 1 should be returned.

many thanks in advance.

Which Excel functions can ignore hidden rows?
The SUBTOTAL and AGGREGATE functions ignore hidden rows. AGGREGATE can also exclude error cells and more.
Hi Thanks for getting back to me.

I think I have not explained my root problem, if a use a formula within the T31 cell, the if the user enters a manual number the formula is over written, hence my investigation in to using a custom data validation.
