Hello

I have a simple spreadsheet in which I keep track of mortgage payments.

My mortgage repayment term is 22 years and 11 months. Beside each months' payment, I would like to count down the number of years and months left.

For example, 22 years, 9 months > 22 years, 8 months etc

I just cannot find a way to do this with a formula

Regards
Chris

How to show all formulas in Excel?
Press Ctrl+` to show all formulas. Press it again to toggle back to numbers. The grave accent is often under the tilde on US keyboards.
A2: =TODAY()
B2: =31/07/2045
C2: =DATEDIF(A2,B2;"Y")
D2: =DATEDIF(A2,B2,"YM")
E2: =DATEDIF(A2,B2,"MD")

Solution
A2: =TODAY()
B2: =31/07/2045
C2: =DATEDIF(A2,B2,"Y")
D2: =DATEDIF(A2,B2,"YM")
E2: =DATEDIF(A2,B2,"MD")
The days were unnecessary, so I discarded them from the dated if and used =CONCATENATE(C2, " Years & ", D2, " Months") in an adjacent cell to make it display 22 Years & 10 Months

Thanks for your help with this.

Regards

Glad having been of some help(y).
Now, with only your mortgage repayment date in B2 (or wherever) and no other help cells you can use:

=CONCATENATE(DATEDIF(TODAY(),B2,"Y") & " Years " & DATEDIF(TODAY(),B2,"YM") & " Months")
