Hi,

I have a column of cells with the following text format, "12/17/2015 12:00:00 AM". How can I convert this to a date with only the month and year and to ensure that Excel reads it as a date?

thanks

I got that because I'm in uk so the std date format is dd/mm/yyyy

Your example uses mm/dd/yyyy

Is your system date formatted to mm/dd or dd/mm?

Excel Facts

Using Function Arguments with nested formulas
If writing INDEX in Func. Arguments, type MATCH(. Use the mouse to click inside MATCH in the formula bar. Dialog switches to MATCH.
Looks like you have an Excel date not a text date. You can just change the formant of the cells to what you want

If you want leading zeros on the single digit months and the whole year. change to match what you need.
Code:
mm/yyyy
