I am trying to create a formula to use for conditional formatting, if 'discontinued' is not found in column C, but 'discontinued' is found in column D. This is what I came up with so far, but it is not fully correct.

=AND(ISNUMBER(SEARCH("discontinued",C2))*(LEN(C2)>LEN("discontinued")),ISNUMBER(SEARCH("discontinued",D2))=FALSE)

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Excel Facts

Convert text numbers to real numbers
Select a column containing text numbers. Press Alt+D E F to quickly convert text to numbers. Faster than "Convert to Number"
if I'm understanding correctly something like....

=AND($C2<>"discontinued",$D2="discontinued")

select the range to be formatted first

Thank you Weazel,

Your formula is also returning False if 'discontinued' is not found in column D. I need it to be False only if 'discontinued' is absent in column C, but present in column D.
