I need some assistance with using IF statment and Conditional Formatting.

In cell C19 I want to enter a date of < = 1/1/1993
I want my cell L19 to be grey out

In Cell C19 I want to enter a date of < = 1/1/2005
I want my cell L19 to be grey out

In both senarios if the date is not less than or equal to the date I enter I want the cell to remain white.

I have tried conidtional formating and If statements and non are working to what I need.

Please Help.

is there a way to copy the formula down? When I use the copy down then enter the hire date formula doesnt work.

copy/paste should work, or even better, copy/paste special/formats (since the conditional formatting is a format on the cell).

Also, if you have rows of data and you want each row to format columns J/L depending on column C, then use $C19 in your conditional formula. The $C will lock to column C, the 19 (with no $) will be updated to be the row number of each row. If however you want to format always based on content of cell C19 (regardless of row) then use $C$19 in the conditional format. That will lock the row number to row 19 (as well as the column to column C).
