Compress Images in Save As box, a quirk?

Hi everyone.
Here is something I have noticed with using Compress Images in 2010. Hopefully there will be a solution to this that I have as yet not been able to find.

When I run Compress Images from the save as dialog box in 2007, the file size is slightly larger than if I run it in 2010. However, if I then send the resulting excel file out to people, if they are viewing it on an iPad, then they cannot see the images at all from the 2010 version but can see them fine if the excel file is from the 2007 version (with exactly the same data and images in there).

I cannot figure out why this may be. The options on both are set as "Email (96ppi)" and with "Delete Cropped areas of pictures" ticked. Any ideas welcome

Cheers
Ben

(for some reason I could not edit my first post to add this)

On further inspection, the pictures are added by using ActiveSheet.Pictures.Insert(x) rather than ActiveSheet.Shapes.AddPicture(x,false,true,l,t,w,h) which is how I would do it to ensure they were permanent images in the file. On the off chance, have M$ changed how the Pictures.Insert method works between 07 and 10 so as it will just be a link now? If so, would explain the problem. Anyone know and can verify my suspicions?

Thanks for clearing that up. Will have to change this code to use the more robust version then. Only problem about having inherited a load of outdated sheets at work is that none of the VBA is how I would do it! :P
