You know why the Uk will not join the single currency thing, as your see from UK view point but ill say for the rest of the world, i do no answer for Sweeden or any other nation only my opinion from a Lodon view point

WE DO NOT WANT TO !!!

We are a small island the most powerful in the world and the richest, who beleive in our ways - stiff upper lip old chap!!!

But the US are also the same in power and wealth, WE TWO assist teh world in debts and money tahs why UK tax is so high BILLIONS $$$ are given away to other countrys and quite right as well, its all about help.
We happen to like the ponud and having our own money, the euro banks said the UK would be broke if we did not join ??? RUBBISH .. we are worth more now than ever our contry is rich and we live ok but have terrible problems and are a target from other partys, this is sad.

Most UK guys dont want no funny money, we are happy with our own. ALSO many UK people like being difficult in such issues a lot of this comes from the second world war so we dont want to get to close to other nations, and feeling still run high in many areas, so we just dont want to..

You can't even get away with converting the US dollars into Euros since the UK and Sweden haven't joined the single currency. (yet)

Well, if I provide him with an exhange-rate he can use XL to do the calculation :wink:

However, the Swedish goverment would like to join the Euro asap but has promised to let the people decide.

Since we still haven´t discuss anything about the election it will not be decided within the nearest future - good news

At this stage it´s only the goverment and the companies that are convinced that we will gain some benefit from it.

I recall when we voted about being a member of the EU 1994 lots of spokemens for an "Yes" tried to assure the people about "happy days and christmas" every day if we were a member of the community.

In reality we pay extremly high fees (around 20.000.000.000 SEK ------- 10 SEK = USD 1 and 13 SEK = £ 1) on a yearly basis and in return we get little or nothing in return.

Nowdays most people have forgotten all the promises that was made during the election-period and are, in common, tired to here anything at about EU.

The news we get are either that EU claims that we need to adjust vegetables-sizes and other remarkable things as per "EU-standard"
or that some ministry have been "putting his fingers in the wrong pocket".

No, Sweden should not join the Euro-community because we are tired to be controled by EU:s headoffice and the centralbank of EU.

If this will happend it´s time to mowe to Norway for good

Jack/Dennis,

I know the UK's stance on the single currency, but it's interesting to read about Sweden's stance.

To be honest, in Scotland, I think a lot of people don't really care. Joining the single currency is no big deal. I mean, let's face it, Scotland is still run by England. It's no big deal if we get run by someone else since the first thing we'd do with independence is probably join the single currency anyway.

Unfortunately for Jack, although there are some good arguments for not joining the single currency, I think it's an inevitability. The normal average English type people that I used to live and work with, the best argument they had for not changing was simply that the pound is British and it's a tradition. (or something like that) Blair, I think, has already stated that it's going to be up to the people whether or not Britain joins. So long as Labour are the most popular party, I think people will vote whatever way Tony says.

PS Dennis, I just watched one of your countrymen tear Partick Thistle apart today at football.

Crime in South London is so bad if you cal 999 [911] and say fight or car crime they never turn up if you say GUN the send a helecopter to have a look !!!!!!!

From a personal point of view, I've met very few Swedish people in real life. In fact, only two as far as I can recall. When I was living in Scotland, I would meet people from all over. Most notably Germany, Australia, NZ and France.

I only found a Celtic Supporter's Club in Columbus two week ago, so I'm still very excited that I can see the games live every week for $10 (US) (or 90.072 SEK )

Mark for the recod i played today as you know i had to man mark a young guy VERY good he untill 12 weeks ago played for Layton Orieant, not bad,

His team was aweful and the ref gave so much to his side, gave a pen for obstruction, i was 6 foot behind so no last man rule, off side from a midfileder running through teh defence you get the picture.

Score 11-0

Dar that team was a good side but not good enough to beat us,

Yes our keeper save the pen, parry down i collect the re bound i told our keeper was world clas save and good for the camras but why di you not catch it???

BTW thats not a high score for us and our standards!!!

18-2 any good, 13-1 ref wanted to abandon 37 minutes from end side was very upset with us

Last week 13-1 ref miscounted so recorder 12!!

3-3 and we lost 3-1

Won 6-3 cp in extra time YES we scored 3 in extra time we were 3-1 down last 10 minuts, no golden goal rules, dar that side were sick

Today was easy 11-0 i recall, and im old - older than you think these gusy are 18-25 and my center back is 49!!! who old am i take just over 10 off that..

Well, we dont´ have so many players in Scotland so it was not so hard to guess :wink:

Correct, the only swedish players on the field today was Henrik.

BTW, Henrik has decided to leave Celtic after this season, after 7 successfully years in Celtic, and move home. He left the national team as well after the World Championship this year.

Im not so sure Dennis Labour have a way of mucking it all up - take football they wont pay for parks to have groundsman so no pitch, all boys love football and would play - so what do they do no grass pitch [crime] just one example, but we can charge to travel into London by car now every day #5.00 thats cleaver, all parking csts under NEW LABOUR!!!!

So i get better this and that and non of it i asked for but i have to pay - thats a winner in my books

He's got one more season to go after this. He's quitting in 18 months. Don't try to scare me. He's been saying for a few years now that he wants to return and play for Helsinborgs again.
