Hello. I'm new to Access.

Is there an easy way to deal with the following?

I notice that when I change the name of a table, the query which creates the table is invalidated because Query cannot recognize the table name has changed.

Thanks for your help.

Excel Facts

How to total the visible cells?
From the first blank cell below a filtered data set, press Alt+=. Instead of SUM, you will get SUBTOTAL(9,)
This is how I do it:

Go into the design of the query, now add the table that you changed the name on. Make sure the query grid is showing "table names".

recreate any unions you have.

Now on the grid you will see the fields for your old table (preceded by Exp1 etc). Go through each one by using the drop down on the table name and the field name to select the new table/field names.

When they've all been changed, delete the old table from the design (if you do it first the fields will dissapear from the grid)

Now run the query and it should work as before.

***Note: Don't Save the query until your comfortable that the results are correct. if you screw up you can just close and say no to changes.

Hullo. There is a wonderful utility out there that will rename tables, queries, reports, macros, modules... Nearly anything in Access. It can be found at www.rickworld.com

Thank you for your help.

Was hoping to just click a button and 'problem solved'. Seems Access is a bit unfriendly in that regard.

Still learning and exploring. Thanks again.
