I'm looking for an access program that can function as a change management system to log, store, track, document, and send follow up on changes made to a process.
I figure there has to be something out there...
Your title reminds me of a variance tracking system. Or is it for keeping track of quality system document and record changes? I have seen both, and have a copy of the latter - which I have the authority to distribute. If it is more of a task management process as provided in the link, it might serve you better.
Thanks, but I'm looking for something to track changes to a machine or machine setting. We typically will request a trial to see what the change does then if the trial is successful then we will move it to a permanent change. What we are struggling with is tracking all these trials (on many different machine) and making sure they are followed up on during (and or after) the trial. We have a very manual system currently. Looking for something more automated.
Gotcha. Try searching on CMDB (configuration management database) too. From what I saw of the posted link, it will likely help you with the communication aspects of the process, but it falls short of providing the portion that relates to managing change requests. Perhaps you are not thinking of that at this time because you are concentrating on managing the effects of change, or you have a tool or process that would handle this in parallel. I think an excellent db would include a CM request management module as well. e.g.
request submitted > accepted > classified > assigned > planned > implemented. Then the db modules that track effects take over. Communication aspects occur in parallel.
