Hi

I am after a formula that works please

If I have A and B. When a date is entered into A1 I want B1 to turn red. When a date is then entered into B1 I want both to turn green.

Thanks

Excel Facts

Spell Check in Excel
Press F7 to start spell check in Excel. Be careful, by default, Excel does not check Capitalized Werds (whoops)
Select B1 & then then with conditional formatting > New rule > use a formula
=ISNUMBER(A1)
Select your format.

Then select A1:B1 > use this formula
=AND(ISNUMBER(A1),ISNUMBER(B1))
select your format

thanks, I have just done this.

The first part is great, When doing the second part. It changed the B1 cel to the colour I did not want. A1 changed to the correct colour. I need both cels to be the same colour on the second part.

The first part is right,
However when a date is entered in to B1 I want both B1 and A1 to be the same color.

When I entered the formula B1 went one color and A1 a different.

Did B1 stay the same colour as when you put a data in A1, or did it change to another colour?

ok so in A1 I already have a date such as 1/1/2020, In B1 I then want this cel to be red when blank.

When a date is entered in to B1 I want A1 and B1 to both turn green,

But what colour is B1 when you enter a date into it?

In that case check that the Applies to Range for the 2nd formula is A1:B1, not just A1
