I'm away from my office traveling, and trying to get some work done. Unfortunately, every time I open Excel I immediately get an error box that pops up saying, "There was a problem connecting to the server xxx," with xxx being the name of a server I sometimes connect to when I'm in the office to retrieve shared files.

However, I haven't connected to that server for a couple of weeks and have restarted my computer several times since then.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I literally cannot use Excel right now; I have to open the Excel files in Numbers (I'm on a Mac) but it's a poor workaround.

Thanks in advance.

can you access your work server for other means, create the vpn first so you have a secure connection then get the excel ?

No, as soon as I open Excel I get the error message. Then I have to "Force Quit" the Excel application.
