Can't turn off trace dependents

Hi everyone - trace dependents seems to be stuck turned on.

I've tried the normal going into formulas and clicking remove arrows, but then as soon as I scroll to another cell with dependents, it comes back. When I select everything in the sheet and click "remove arrows" the message I get is "the remove arrows command found no tracer arrows to remove."

I also tried going into advanced ->display options for this workbook ->for objects, show and selected "nothing (hide objects)". This doesn't work either. Strangely, when I open settings back up, it's always set back to "all."

Everything I've found online is about being unable to turn trace precedents on, but nothing about it being stuck on. Has anyone had this issue / know a fix? Thanks in advance.

Links? Where??
If Excel says you have links but you can't find them, go to Formulas, Name Manager. Look for old links to dead workbooks & delete.
Hello, I'm having this exact same issue which really slows down the workbook. I've combed the web and this is the only mention I've encountered... bumping this in case someone can help out, it'd be much appreciated
