Can't open DBF file in excel, but will open in Open Office?!?

Can any one shed any light on why this DBF file will not open in Excel but will open in OpenOffice Calc?

There is also a bunch of DBF File viewers available for free on line such as DBF Plus that you can find here: DBF Viewer Plus
I often use this when dealing with dBase files.
