I had a problem, I have been accessing my database for weeks... then the database I was trying to get in MyDocuments, gave me an error message that said It can't access the database WorkOrder.mdb.

The only resolution was to move it into Shared Documents. It has worked fine for 2 weeks... Now we can't access it.

What could be wrong???

It will access the other 3 databases in Shared Documents?????

Please any help is greatly appreciated,

Michael

Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
Sounds odd

Can you be more descriptive?
At what point do you get what exact error message text?

(double-click, select database, error pops up?)

One possibility is that the database is corrupted - regular use of Tools-Database Utilities - Compact And Repair Database tool might avoid that.
To work around the problem, you might try creating a new blank database and then importing (File - Get External Data - Import) all of the objects from the 'corrupted' database.

Yes Double click and I get a message:
Microsoft Access can't find the database file "\\Company\SharedDocs\WorkOrder.mdb" Make sure you enter the correct path and file name.

I use Compact and Repair Daily!!

I hope I don't have to resort to importing all the forms, reports, etc.etc.

??????????

That isn't particularly difficult.

There is an All tab on the import wizard and a Select All checkbox as well.

Obviously if it is a large database it may take some time.

Norie,
Do you think this is what I need to do? I can access the file just fine from the computer where the file is located.

Thank You,
Michael

Don't really know - I was only trying to say that importing isn't that hard.

Have you considered that this might not be an Access problem?

Can you open it from the File>Open... menu?

Might even be a network issue.

Are you able to show the path that you are using to get to the database? Also with the database how are you getting into it? eg click on the access icon and then opening it from the recent files, or going to the exact location of the file and double clicking on it?

The Path is:
Network Neighborhood then...
Company (the name of the computer the file is on) then...
Shared Documents then...
WorkOrder.mdb
We go through this process above then double click the file

Thank You,
Michael
