Hi,

Using Excel 2016 desktop app.
I've encountered a weird issue this past week - suddently the function in Excel to hide & unhide rows is completely disabled in all my workbooks - the function when right clicking a row is grayed out both on "Hide" & "Unhide".
I've tried creating a completely fresh clean workbook on the desktop (to rule out any weird macros running in the background) and the functions are even disabled in that worksheet.

I've tried / checked :

  • Creating a completely fresh "New Microsoft Excel Worksheet" on desktop with no contents<strike></strike>
  • The worksheet is not Protected
  • ticked off all boxes under Trust Center -> Protected View <strike></strike>
  • The workbook is not Shared
  • There are no macros involved (saved workbook as Excel Workbook, not Macro-enabled)

What else can influence the possibliity to hide/unhide rows?
There must be some parameter controlling this. Very frustrating!!

Appreciate any ideas that can solve this weird issue.

Thanks!

Excel Facts

Which lookup functions find a value equal or greater than the lookup value?
MATCH uses -1 to find larger value (lookup table must be sorted ZA). XLOOKUP uses 1 to find values greater and does not need to be sorted.
With Excel closed, check your C drive for an .xlb file (making sure to look in hidden folders too). If you find one, rename it, then try Excel again.
