Calculate Arc Width by having length and rise

Hi there, is it possible to calculate the Arc width by only having the Arc Length and Rise?

Rise is the height of arc

Arc length = 1525

rise = 230

width = ?
 
just noticed your post there wsjackman, thanks for that ill see if i can make it work... but as i said that link to the calculator only needs the 2 inputs and it gave me the correct answer so there is a formula, is that formula you posted a working one or do you need the radius because i dont have it... any help would be great,...

Excel Facts

Why does 9 mean SUM in SUBTOTAL?
It is because Sum is the 9th alphabetically in Average, Count, CountA, Max, Min, Product, StDev.S, StDev.P, Sum, VAR.S, VAR.P.
thanks for your help ciricutsman im doing my best to figure it out on a excel spread sheet but my head is wreked... lol :eeek:

The "See Below" on the webpage refers to...

Newton's Method works for (1-cos[x])/x = k (Case 3 above), with the initial start
x(0) = 2k,
and iteration
x(n+1) = x(n) - (cos[x(n)]+kx(n)-1)/(-sin[x(n)]+k).
