Dear Participants,

Can anybody help me to know how change settings so that i can always start excel in safe mode ?

currently i am pressing and holding down "Ctrl" key to start in safe mode.

Excel Facts

Pivot Table Drill Down
Double-click any number in a pivot table to create a new report showing all detail rows that make up that number
Its a get out of jail free card, is there a reason to start every session in safe ?, that said maybe possible to create a desktop start link that has safe mode as a switch ?

:) yes its Its a get out of jail free card.

the reason i want it to always in safe mode is because my file is huge with lots of pivot tables.

When i copy some thing when its in "normal mode" it hangs for 2 (or so) minutes before i can paste. even then after pasting, it again hangs for another 2 minutes.

disabling the add ons does not solve the issue

1. i created short cut
2. changed shortcut's target properties from "C:\my file" to "C:\my file" /s

it still starts in normal mode when i double click the shortcut.

any idea where i am wrong ?

You need to create a shortcut to the Excel executable (excel.exe) with that switch. You can append the filename to the end to have it open that file automatically too.

.xlsb ? .xls ? or what ?

and how do i change it

You don't need to change the file at all. Your shortcut needs to point to the excel application rather than a file. So the target would be something like:

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\EXCEL.EXE" /s "C:\Testing\book1.xlsb"

for example.
