auto date into a cell

Is there away for lets say. If A2 contains data then TODAYS date is entered into P4. Thanks as always....
 
You can place a ' the symbol below the @ sign on a standard UK keyboard.

This will stop excel thinking it's a email

Do you know the correct format for a cell that will let you enter a @ without it seeing it as a email. Example: this is a steel size, 3@5. I have tried General and Text and it still turns it blue as it were email..
What version of Excel are you using?

I don't have Excel 2010 but it should be pretty close to being the same as in Excel 2007...

Office button (I think Excel 2010 replaced the Office button with a File menu item instead).

Excel Options>Proofing>AutoCorrect Options

Select the AutoFormat As You Type tab

Uncheck: Internet and network paths with hyperlinks
