An updating date that doesn't change previous dates

Hi there,

I am trying to create a document where new field entries will be added everyday with differing amounts of new entries each day as it depends how many calls we receive from customers that we need to log.

What I ideally would like is for today's date to automatically appear on a new field but for the previous dates on rows above not to update. I.e. using Today() gives me today's date which is good, however, when I then go in to add new entries tomorrow all of today's inputs dates will change to tomorrow's date as well as any new inputs.

Does anybody know of a formula/formatting to make this happen? Basically a live update that doesn't change the previous fields dates?

I have tried alternatives such as macros and the calendar input method but using macros isn't ideal to then communicate with my team. Ideally, some sort of formula to control this date process would be great.

I hope that makes sense,

Thanks
DC

Haha If Central!

I've just tried it though and that works a dream, does everything the same as before and has removed any run time errors that I was having.

Thanks mate!

No worries mate, glad the new code didn't go to waste :)

Hi Fishboy,

I just wondered whether it was possible to do something with a formula.

Basically I have a total figure that I am trying to work out how many would fit into each month.
Currently it just divides by 12 ie =75/12 but that leaves me with 6.25 per month, and it's products I'm working out not money so I can't have decimals.

I know I could just round it down to 6 but then 12*6 equals 72 so I am not allocating for 3 products per year.

Currently I have manually worked out each one so for this I need 9 months with 6 products and 3 months with 7 products to hit 75 exactly.

However, these numbers in each month have been manually input and so nothing will update when I change other cells values.

I appreciate that it may be impossible to have a formula for this, but I just thought it was worth an ask.

Thanks mate

Hi again DC.

I suspect that this is probably doable, however I must admit that I'm probably not the best person to ask as I wouldn't even know where to start.

You might have more success with this query if you started a new thread and opened the question up to the gurus and experts at large.
