Office Version
  1. 2024
Platform
  1. Windows
I wish to purchase office so I can use Word & Excel.
Currently using 2007 but maybe time to update.

I don’t like the idea of using 365 as the files are all on the cloud or is that a good thing ?

I like the sound of having the files on my Pc to be honest.

Is there anything I can down that is cheap or free & I have to buy a product key etc.

Looking for some advice please.

My existing files from 2007 would need to be used in this new version.

You can save files on your PC, even if you are using Excel 365.
You don't have to save them to the cloud.

Ok so what is the procedure.
Uninstall office 2007.
Download & install 365.

My 2007 files will then work straight away ?
I ask I’m I’ve gone from Win 7 32 bit to Win 10 64 but & having a few teething problems.

Some codes wouldn’t run & had to play about downloading missing files etc.

Some crashed & still crash.

Flickering mouse icon.

Can’t afford to loose files or corrupt them.

I converted some years ago and had no issues running old files, but I did not use a lot of VBA libraries (other than the standard default ones) or any special plug-ins.

If you have used Custom Libraries is some of your VBA projects, you probably need to go back into those workbooks and re-select them. Sometimes they have a higher/newer version number.

I should mention that my jump was from 2013 to 365.
I think there was some VBA functionality that was deprecated around 2007. Mostly revolving around file browsing via VBA, I believe.

Download & install 365.
Just beware that AFAIK the default download is 64bit now, if you want the 32bit then you need to specify it

Filesearch going after was the main one that caught people out as far as I remember

So I have bought Microsoft Office 2024 Professional Plus.

When I uninstall the office currently in use I assume the excel & word icons will go & the files will be like a white piece of paper ?

Once 2024 is installed these documents will then have their icons returned ?

Also.
When I was using office 2007 my Pc was 32 bit.
My new Pc is 64 bit so does that have any effect on the files or does my 64 bit pc just run them.
