Adjusting a heat map on a fixed data set using a variable

Is there a way to have a heat map applied to a fixed data set adjust based on a variable? The variable would essentially identify a cell on the data set and the heat map would emanate from that cell instead of from a high-to-low or some other spread.

For example, if you have 1-10 on the x-axis and 1-10 on the y-axis, and each intersection is a multiplication of the two, and your variable is 36, the heat map would spread so that anything near or below 36 would go from yellow to red and anything near or above 36 would go from yellow to green. And then changing 36 to any other number on the graph would adjust the heat map accordingly.

Hope this makes sense. Any help is appreciated!
