Adding "w" and "L" to find win %

This is my column "K". What i was looking to do is that every day I update a "W" for a win and a "L" for a loss. In Cell Q9, i wanted a to get a total win %( Number of wins / total number of games played)

So i was wondering if it was possible. The W/L Column goes from K2:K151

Also as you can see above there is a gray cell that seperates the days. So i can not count that cell as a game day. So just if it has a W or an L. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

do you have something else in the "empty" cell? this works as it should, but when I typed a space into an empty cell i get this

I think you are counting the heading too. K1:K50, try K2:K50,

=COUNTIF(K2:K50,"W")/COUNTIF(K2:K50,"?*")

you are correct but the cell is just blank but the formula seems to be working just not putting the number in the cell.??
