Hi all,

Here is the code to create a structure chart from range A to range C of the sheet ‘’BD’’

There is the ‘’Big father‘’ in A2 which is the ‘’Boss’’

The column B states all the ‘’sub father’’ with their ‘’children’’ that are in the column A except for the value ‘’Boss’’

For example the ‘’Boss’’ in cell A2 is the father of ‘’Vice President’’ in cell A3 that is the father of ‘’Employee13’’ in cell A11

The column C of the sheet ‘’BD’’ is the description of what you see inside the shapes in the sheet ‘’Shapes’’ where the structure chart is displayed once the macro is activated

My problem is that I would like to expand my variables, I add a new range of variable in the column D of the sheet ‘’BD’’ and I would like that the specific variable be not included in the shapes like the variable of the column C are, but rather be below and at the left of the shapes they are related to.

  • This version gets the data table from the object sheet. It still uses the Data3 sheet but you can hide it, so the only visible sheet will be the object sheet.
  • It also centres the big boss.

Excel Facts

Remove leading & trailing spaces
Save as CSV to remove all leading and trailing spaces. It is faster than using TRIM().

Many thanks for what you have done so far, I really like what you have achieved with the graph and data on the same sheet and also with the big boss located at the exact middle of the chart.

But I don’t know why, it does not work… When the macro ‘’main’’ is activated, there is still values and color in the column Z to AE and color in the column L

My 3 last questions for this chart
> The chart takes its values since the cell L37 from sheet ‘’object’’ and at the end of the macro, the values are copied from the column A to E
Is it possible that the chart takes directly the values since the cell A1, keeping the colors and the values? The main objective is to keep the values of data from column A to E and also the color of the cells where the data are located.

> No little shape or empty little shape for big boss. Currently it displays 1%....I’m looking for to erase it automatically

I hope you are well. So many thanks for what you have done so far. I have worked on and tested the code above you proposed and it appeared this, when the big boss is linked to an odd or even number of shapes

Do you want the big boss always aligned with a shape as shown below? Would you like the option to position it at the geometric middle? For an even number of shapes at the second level, this will leave the boss aligned with no one, also shown below.
The text fitting issue can probably be solved using the auto size property.

On second thought, I think it is better to have all big shapes the same size, enough to hold the necessary text.
The version below uses fixed dimensions, instead of calculating based on existing text. Shape height and width can be easily changed if desired.
