Hey there. I need a formula that will calculate Year to Date change from 2008 and 2009 data in a percentage. For example, I have data from January through August for 2008 and 2009. I need to know what the percentage change comparing 2009 and 2008.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

thanks,
Eddie

Percentage Change meaning 2009 vs. 2008, correct?

Since you didn't give us cell ranges, I'll use A1 and B1 for the two cells containing the 2008 and 2009 data respectively.

=(B1-A1)/A1

(End value/Start Value ) -1 will give you the percent increase/decrease from the start value. Compare Jan 09 to Jan 08. or a good comparison might be Sum(Jan08 through Aug 08)/Sum(Jan09 through Aug 09) -1 to give an apples to apples comparison.
