Locking/Protecting the filename

Hi,

Does anyone know how to lock the filename of a spreadsheet so other users can't rename it? (ie protect the filename). The reason I want to do this is because I have other spreadsheets (workbooks) that refer to it and don't want anyone changing the filename. I thought this would be relatively easy but can't find how to do this anywhere!

This is not really an Excel issue, but more of an OS issue. See your if IT department can set up restrictions / permissions on this file.

Not sure if this is what you are looking for but I put this in the workbook save private sub. It cancels the 'save as' option so you can only use save and therefore not change the name.Private Sub Workbook_BeforeSave(ByVal SaveAsUI As Boolean, Cancel As Boolean)If SaveAsUI = True Then Cancel = TrueEnd Subhope it helps
