I have raw materials that go into several finished goods. I will like a formula where I can input several Raw Materials and I get the count of the finished goods. I think a count if formular will work, but I am not sure.

Excel Facts

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
Ok. Here is more data. column 1 has the Raw Materials and Column 2 has the FG. on the next tab if I enter a Raw Material, I want the next column to give me a count of the FG associated with the Raw Material.

Can you post a small sample of your data....and what the outcome would be from that data ??

FG RawMaterial
Car Red paint
Bus Red Paint

In this example I want to write red paint in another tab or column and receive the number 2 because there are 2 FGs that use red paint

You'll have to provide a better data sample than that !!
But a stab in the dark

Code:
=COUNTIF(B2:B3,Sheet2!A1)
