Count of items being calculated in a cell?

I'm having to add (and subtract) a lot of numbers in a lot of cells and want to be able to count the number of items being calculated in that cell. It's so I can compare to the document I'm copying the numbers off of as a cross-check.

So: =15+32+50-42+3 would be 5 items being calculated.

Typical we don't want to sum hard values like that.
We prefer to sum and range of cells. Most common function used is SUM()
Then, to count the cells that have values use the function COUNT() using the same range reference.

SpillerBD has a valid point about how to design a good spreadsheet. However, I know a lot of people who use Excel as an impromptu calculator. This might be a similar case. If so, try this:
