Add to Selection in Excel. How to use Shift+F8 in Excel to Add to Selection.
Select the first range. Press Shift + F8 and you are in Add to Selection mode. Scroll anywhere. Select the next range. Then another range. And so on, without ever touching Ctrl. To return to normal, press Esc.
Thanks to Neil Charles for sending in this idea.
A bonus tip from Bill Hazlett:
if you select A1, press F8, then click in S20 you will select from A1:S20.

Alright, this is pretty crazy. So, let's say that we have this range selected and now we need to select a lot more ranges. If I hold down SHIFT and press F8, I'm in a new mode here, a mode that I've never used, called ADD TO SELECTION, and now I can just simply take the mouse, select the next range, and I have to hold down CONTROL and keep going like that, and then apply some sort of formatting to that whole range.
So, SHIFT+F8 goes into ADD TO SELECTION mode. When you're done, just press ESCAPE, or actually, when you do any formatting, it will take you out of ADD TO SELECTION mode.
Well, hey. Thanks for stopping by. We'll see you next time for another netcast from MrExcel.
