Create a Chart with One Click

Problem: I have to create a bunch of charts based on data I already have in Excel. How can I speed up the process?

Data to be charted. Regions in A2:A4. Months in B1:H1. Sales in B2:H4.

Strategy: You can create a chart with one keystroke! Select the data, including the headings and row labels and press Alt+F1.

The default chart has months along the x-axis. Three clustered columns in blue, red, and green show sales for each region per month.

The data will be charted as an embedded chart on the current sheet, as shown above.

Gotcha: This trick is awesome if you need to create clustered column charts with the legend on the right. The odds says that you have to create something else. Use the next topic to change the chart that you get with Alt+F1.
