This post is meant to be a reply to the old 2012 post that I just read. The site does not allow me to reply to the old post-Link below-
https://www.mrexcel.com/forum/excel-questions/5404-what-xlookup.html
I just want to revive this question because I am working on a project where XLookup could save me a lot of time but I NO-LONGER have access to the source where I originally found the XLOOKUP in use:
Yes, there is function name “XLookup” and it is used extensively in an Actuarial software name “GGY AXIS”---Insurance software.
It is similar to a VLookup in the sense you are looking a record base on criteria in one field
BUT
The XLookup allow you to look up a table base on criteria in multiple fields.
I am not talking about concatenation of multiple fields for VLookup purpose.
In this type of environment concatenation is not an option so the XLookup turn out to be a life saver.
An example is that you might want to look up criteria such as a table and have to find matching fields such as "Basis", "Rate", "Kind", " Merger codes" or more and choose a result in another column based on these criteria.
Anyone feel free to research and expand on the above note.
