Wrote a macro to include page X of Y, but it's not included when Macro runs

Good afternoon. Thanks in advance for the help.

I am new to macros and recorded one this morning - the purpose is to set up a page's layout. It works well with one exception. Despite recording the action to include a footer reporting Page 1 of 2, for example, this is not included when the macro runs. Can anyone tell me how to fix this so that Page X of Y appears in the footer? Thank you.

You would only see the header or footer in the page loyout view or when you print the sheet.

Thanks for responding. I've tried again and found that the header is displayed on the screen and when printed but no luck with the footer. I switched the header to include date and that no longer appears either. Could this be related to those "system" or "calculated" fields?

I tried it with: Sheets(1).PageSetup.LeftFooter = "&p Of &n"
It shows in Print Preview and Page Layout views, but not in normal view.

I deleted all the unnecessary lines of code that the recorder inserted. The recorder is not smart enough to know when a user is repeating the same thing two or three times or just trying to find a certain cell on the sheet, so to avoid leaving out a critical move, it records everything. That means that the user then has to go back and clean up the code after they click "Stop Recording". I ran this code and it appears to work.
