Whenever I try to hide a column or columns on any of the worksheets in my workbook, excel hides the entire workbook. The top two row were merged, but un-merging did not rectify the problem.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Excel Facts

VLOOKUP to Left?
Use =VLOOKUP(A2,CHOOSE({1,2},$Z$1:$Z$99,$Y$1:$Y$99),2,False) to lookup Y values to left of Z values.

Welcome to the MrExcel board!

1. Are you trying to hide the column(s) manually or by vba code?

2. If you close Excel and re-open with the default blank workbook, does the same problem occur?

3. Do you know if you problem sheet contains any vba code?

4. It still sounds a bit like you might have some merged cells somewhere. Is that possible?

Thanks for replying so quickly!

1. I'm trying to hide columns manually.

2. When I close Excel and re-open w/the default bank workbook, the same problem does occur! Bizarre!!

3. I don't think the problem workbook contains any VBA - I haven't put any in.

4. I selected all the cells on each worksheet and unmerged the cells.

So, for example, you are doing something like this? (Assuming not Excel 2007)

1. Select cell E5

2. Format|Column|Hide

3. All columns disappear?

Oh, @#$@#!!!

I'm sorry!!! I had a brain freeze!! I selected a cell, then went to 'window' - 'hide'.

Dumb!!!

Thank you! Your last question made me retrace my steps, which helped me catch my error.
