Thanks.

Excel Facts

Select all contiguous cells
Pressing Ctrl+* (asterisk) will select the "current region" - all contiguous cells in all directions.
For example:
Code:
Sub Demo()
Application.ScreenUpdating = False
Dim Sctn As Section, HdFt As HeaderFooter, f As Long
With ActiveDocument
  For Each Sctn In .Sections
    For Each HdFt In Sctn.Headers
      With HdFt
        If .Exists Then
          If .Index = 1 Or .LinkToPrevious = False Then
            With .Range
              For f = .Fields.Count To 1 Step -1
                With Fields(f)
                  If .Type = wdFieldMergeField Then
                    .Result.Font.ColorIndex = wdBlack
                    .Unlink
                  End If
                End With
              Next
            End With
          End If
        End If
      End With
    Next
  Next
End With
Application.ScreenUpdating = True
End Sub
