what type of data/text are you trying to bring in? You may try saving the .doc file as .txt, then Data, Import Exteral Data...

The copy/paste to Excel put it in columns - Paste Special works, but when the document is more than one page, only one page get pasted - I thought maybe I must create a type of page in excell to transfer the detail from Word, but couldnt find out how ... I also used insert object, but that doesnt work either ....

Hi Barbie, I've tried copying and pasting a 27 page word document into Excel, and it works for me. It pasted all 27 pages. I tried just a normal paste, and a paste special, and both worked...Is there a part I'm missing?

:beerchug: Thank you so much Dave. I think it's a part I missed. The problem for me when I just copy/paste the normal way is that the text stretch side-ways over two pages and I can't get it to fit in a normal page size. When you use the paste special, it's got options and I chose text, and it does the same as above and when I choose microsoft doc option then its only one page it accepts. Maybe there's something wrong with my 2003 version - something missing perhaps, but I will try again. thank you once again. Barbie
