HI

Any help for a numpty would be appreciated i have managed to get windows media player on a form (a command button opens it) withing the properties box it asks for URL of vide which i have put in and i have used file extensions mp4 mpg and avi but every time i try and play it says the below,

OK, so a .avi is a movie file.
The error is saying it's not a movie file.

Does the movie play if you manually try and play it from Windows Media Player?
If not, then that would suggest Windows Media Player is correct and it's not an .avi after all.

I'm suspicious of the file name "Watch Shaft Full Movie - BMovies.352p.avi"
Usually .avi movie files simply have the name of the movie, ie "Shaft"
I've seen websites before that say things like "Watch...Star Trek" and when you click to play it, it's not actually the movie at all. It just directs you to another website.

First of all check that it is indeed a playable movie.

If it is a movie, what command are you using to run Windows Media Player and play that .avi file ?

Hi it plays fine iv watched it loads of times i just used this file as example to see if it worked

i have tried a video file that i created which is mp4 which is local on my pc this is url C:\Users\steve\Downloads\Video\Skidata Barrier.gate Fit And Adjust Barrier Arm.mp4" and it plays fine
