Why won't Excel let me move or copy a sheet containing a table?

I found 2 workbooks with similar sheets, so I wanted to consolidate. But when I tried to move any sheet containing a table, I got a message saying that I can't. A quick search revealed that this is a well-known "feature" in Excel. The suggested workaround is to convert the table to a range then convert it back to a table after the move.

? Why is Excel refusing these moves? Does it make any sense?

? Are there any downsides or caveats to using the suggested workaround?

Thanks

Excel Facts

Last used cell?
Press Ctrl+End to move to what Excel thinks is the last used cell.
That is not entirely correct. You can't move multiple sheets if any of the sheets you are grouping contain a table.
Any sheets that contain a table need to be moved one at a time.
If you use move rather than copy, excel seems to be able sort out the linked sheet formulas.

Solution
Thank you. I thought I tried that, but I think what happened is that I still had both sheets selected.

Everything is now consolidated. Thank you! 👏👍👏👍😀
