Why this OFFSET formula does not work?

Hello

I have this OFFSET formula but it does not work:

=OFFSET(MATCH("AU",C:C,0),0,1)

I want basically to return the value of the cell to the right of the cell that matches "AU"

Thats what VLOOKUP is for.

=VLOOKUP("AU",C:D,2,0)

MATCH returns a number not a cell reference. I'd suggest you use:

=INDEX(D:D,MATCH("AU",C:C,0))

Thanks but how does specifying the height and width to be 1 and 1 denotes the whole column?

Dont use offset for what you have described in your opening post. Use either the vlookup or the index match. Depends what you understand best.
