- The drop down list for my Data Validation on one particular sheet is not showing.
- The data validation works fine, just no drop down showing on this sheet.
- Data validation and drop down work fine on all other sheets.
- I've tried many cells on this sheet all the same problem.
- I've tried copying validated cells from another sheet to this one.
- Same result, validation works, but no list shows.

Anyone ever experience this before?
And does anyone know the possible cause?

Excel Facts

How to total the visible cells?
From the first blank cell below a filtered data set, press Alt+=. Instead of SUM, you will get SUBTOTAL(9,)
You might try copying the sheet (everything) to another workbook, and seeing what happens. Maybe that file got corrupted? Weird...I've never seen anything like that.

I copied/pasted the sheet still have the same problem, no drop down

I renamed the sheet....no change....

- It's not critical to the functioning of my spreadsheet, i just don't understand.

- Also of note, Up until 45 minutes ago I had data validation with a drop down list on about 25 cells in this sheet. (none of those still have a drop down)

Are you running '97 with Freeze Panes? I seem to recall a bug in Excel '97 with drop downs and freeze pane, but I forgot specifically what it was.

No, I'm running 2002 and I don't have any frozen panes in the entire workbook...

I'm going to copy the sheet from an old version of the file and see if I have the same problems.

Well, I copied in the sheet from an old version of the sheet. (and re did everything I had changed today, oh well, it was a lot easier the second time around.)

- No problems now.
- Maybe Taz is right, maybe the sheet was somehow corrupted?

- In any case it serves as a good reminder to me to back up everything and keep several generations worth of back up.

Glad to hear you got it "fixed." Beats me how that happened in the first place, or why that seemed to fix it.
