Hi everyone

hopefully you can help me out with this as my head if fried.

I have had a look at some of the other answers for similar questions but I can't see how they would work for my problem.

I have a long list of parts in my inventory. I also have a list of boxes for storing the parts. I have the dimensions for parts and I have the dimensions for the boxes.
I want to create a code to populate the values in Column F for which box to use to store each part. Please note I do not want parts sitting on top of each other, they must fit in the area of the box on one level. If additional boxes are needed then can this be shown in Column G

I would also like to use as little boxes as possible, so whichever fits the quantity required with the least amount of waste would be best. If a group of parts is so small that they take up little room in the smallest box that is fine. These are the only boxes I have at my disposal. Please see a mock up of 10 parts though the actual list is a lot larger

Easy bullets in Excel
If you have a numeric keypad, press Alt+7 on numeric keypad to type a bullet in Excel.
I'll try to assist. If not me then possibly other people who are smarter about Excel.

Pictures are only so helpful. Maybe post a link to your workbook. Put the file on Dropbox, Box, 1Drive, Google Drive etc. Use the link icon above the Mr Excel message area. Make sure that other people can access the file!

Or, consider sharing relevant data using Mr Excel's excellent XL2BB addin that enables you to post a portion of a worksheet. See XL2BB - Excel Range to BBCode for details.

Also, show us the result that you expect for the various parts listed so the sizing logic is more clear (to me). For example, are parts stackable?
